We were planning on heading up to Holbrook for the 4th, because it's one of the best days of the year to spend up there. But after Ari had her seizure and we faced the realization that we don't have any protection up there, because there is hardly anyone in town that is authorized to administer Versed (the only med that stops her seizures), we realized that until we figure out a way to arm ourselves with something that works (Klonopin & Valium don't), we best stay close to a major metropolitan area. Huge bummer.
So, we went to Tempe Town Lake to watch the fireworks. And they were beautiful! The weather was a perfect 93 degrees too. Aunt Marci joined us, and the kids had a great, late night. Gabe, Ari, & Bella rolled down the hill and Gabe chased around an older boy whom he friended until the show started. Then all anyone wanted to do was cuddle (Gabe: "Lay down Mommy! It's cuddle time!") and name the types of fireworks. Each of us had our own type of firework. On the way home, Bella and Ari crashed immediately, but Gabe stayed up long enough to tell me "Mommy & Daddy... thank you for taking me to the fireworks and the train ride!". I said that in an earlier post. But it was so sweet, it bears repeating.
Happy birthday America! We love you!
