We made another trip up to Holbrook, but this time it was to gather with family from both near and far. Jake’s grandma Frances (our kids’ great grandma!), and great uncle Craig, and great aunt Gail flew in to Phoenix from Springfield, MO and made the trip up with us. Aunt Ali (Jake’s sister), uncle Darren, and cousins Vance, Madison, and new baby Lucas also came up from El Paso, TX to spend a few short days with us. Of course we also got to spend time with Grammy, Papa, uncle Ryan, aunt Chantelle, and cousins Brayden, Trevor, and Kendrick too. It was so special for us to be there with all the family. This is only the second time that our kids got to meet their great grandma Frances, and the first time they got to meet their great aunt and uncle, but I’ll tell you, it was like they’d always known them – the way they warmed up to each other almost immediately. There’s just something special about family.
I didn’t take my camera out most of the time we were there, so I missed four fifths of our crew in the pictures (including myself). That just means that we were too busy enjoying the short time we had together… that and we were just too busy. Busy driving, eating, taking care of (nine) littles, chatting, marshmallow roasting, lazing on hammocks and porch rocking chairs and backyard swings, practicing archery, and discussing politics. That’s just how we roll up in Holbrook.
