Ari and I had a busy summer, a productive summer, and even a memorable summer, but I honestly can’t say that spending a summer in the blazing hot car or in physical therapy after surgery is anyone’s idea of a great time. Gabe and Bella, on the other hand, had a Brit Brit summer, which simply means that they had one of the sweetest, most fun-filled, summerific summers of their young lives.
Brit Brit is our former nanny. She is a full-time first grade teacher during the year, but she came back to nanny for us this summer. She is basically awesome. Also kind of like an auntie to my kids and a sister to me. The unicorn of nannies, so to speak.
They came up with a summer weekly schedule. Mondays, they went to Mesquite Groves where they floated down the lazy river, zipped down water slides, jumped off diving boards, and played with their friends. On Tuesdays, they celebrated reading and went to Barnes and Nobles and the public library to check out a whole stack for the next week. Wednesdays were swim at home days, and Liam got to stay and play too. Thursdays were craft and science project days. Fridays were known as Friday Fun Day, and there was a different fun activity planned that were as varied as park visits or going to the movie theater or baking homemade apple pies.
If you are ever away from your little ones for the day and you happen find gems like these posted up on your babysitter’s Facebook page during naptime, you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that all is well. You can feel the mama guilt melt away. Look.
Of course, everyone is going through Brittany withdrawals at this point, with summer being a memory only a month in the distance. But that goes without saying.
